In designing developments plans, considering women and family issues is a required policy. Having a critical look at former development plans in Iran is one of the necessary pre-conditions for designing local models of developments. The present paper first reviews the literature of development and then, with an emphasis on the issue of family and women, analyzes the discourse of third, fourth and fifth developments plans. Hybrid discourse analyses are done with Laclau and Mouffe and Fairclough approaches. The third and fourth development plans are attributed to the reformist discourse and the fifth development plan is attributed to the conservative discourse. The emphasis of reformist discourse is on the signs of ‘reforms’, ‘political development’ and ‘civil society’. In contrast, the emphasis of conservative discourse is on other signs, including: ‘constitutional law’, ‘economic development’, ‘justice’, ‘moral and religious values’, and ‘independency’. In the domain of gender development, the reformist discourse adopts a mixture of empowering, gender and development approaches. However, the conservative discourse has a critical look at the main approaches in development theories and tries to define local theories of women and family issues with an approach of familism.

Family, which establishes the personality and intellectual values of individuals in a community, can have a vital role in creating happiness in individuals. In this study, using the statistical data of 11 countries with more than 20 thousand dollars per capita income and 25 countries with per capita income below 20 thousand dollars, over the period 1981-2014, the relationship between the family's importance in life and happiness has been studied. Per capita income, unemployment, life expectancy, and income inequality variables are entered as a control variable in the panel data regression. The results show that in both groups of the country, unemployment and income inequality variables have negative and significant effects, and variables of family importance, life expectancy and income have a positive and significant effect on happiness perception. Also, the family importance in life in countries with low per capita income, as compared to countries with high per capita income, hasn’t different impacts on perceptions of happiness. Therefore, the positive impact of the cultural value of the family's importance in life on the perception of happiness is not dependent on the promotion of per capita income in a country. Per capita income does not count as a catalyst for having a greater impact on the family's importance in life on the feeling of happiness.

Incoherence of research, lack of accumulation, and inattention to the deeper layers of the subject in areas of addiction and family necessitate offering integrated data from research and identifying studies gaps. Thus, this study seeks to combine and compare research findings in the field of addiction and family, identify common points among studies and obtain consistent results from the scattered findings in this field. This article uses meta-analysis methods and comprehensive meta-analysis (CMA2) software. Of 67 related studies, 26 studies which had necessary information for meta-analysis were selected as the final sample. The results showed that flexibility in the family, family disputes, presence of parents at home, family support, communication between family members, sexual violence, divorce, and death of a spouse are the important factors with an impact on addiction. This research showed that insufficient attention has been paid to factors affecting family and the existing studies are not consistent with the needs in this field.

Historically, social work began in the form of services for people with a disability. The aim of this research is to study social services for children with mental disability (focusing on Down syndrome) and how doctors and practitioners treat their parents in Tehran. The sample consisted of 170 mothers of children with DS, who experienced the difficulties of raising their children.
Findings revealed that the majority of the mothers had very unpleasant experiences of how doctors treated them. So that they were disappointed with negative attitudes of doctors and practitioners. The majority of mothers believed that their children were in need of rehabilitation services but governmental centers have long waiting list and private centers are very expensive.
This research suggests that if the Ministry of Health takes the responsibility of protecting DS children by providing social and rehabilitation services, it will help families to have better social adjustment.
