Abstract

The purpose of this article is to examine the changes in the spaces and reread the actions that have been taken by people and the governments in different countries to return the spaces to the people. In the following, the changes of the urban space in the dimensions of form, function (use) and meaning in the city of Tehran have been investigated. In the first step, the research method is analytical and based on the documentary method and qualitative content analysis.In the investigation of the case study, the quantitative method and the questionnaire tool(204)were used and the data were analyzed with the SPSS tool. The results of the first step showed the changes of urban public spaces in the form of duals concepts: private space/public space;security/ insecurity;sociability and isolation/sociability and communication; xenophobia/ social communication.The results in the second step showed that the conditions of presence and use of the urban space during the Corona period have changed compared to before, and as a result, people's emotional experience of being in the space is negative and tends towards fear. In fact, insecurity has been manifested in a different way.Also,the physical changes in the form of government actions are more of a warning type, but the people's desires include improving pedestrian access, increasing the number and access to open spaces, and increasing the size of the spaces.
