Abstract

The present research aims to measure the degree of feeling of relative deprivation and determine the relationship between it and the formation and occurrence of social dissatisfaction among citizens over 18 years old living in 8 urban areas of Ahvaz. The research was carried out by survey method and using questionnaire technique. The theoretical framework of this study is derived from the theory of relative deprivation "Tedrabert Ger" and theories of dissatisfaction in the fields of sociology "Kreisberg" The statistical population of the research includes all citizens (both men and women) living in Ahvaz in 1401. The sample size is equal to 384 people using Cochran's formula and the samples were selected by random multi-stage cluster sampling. By checking the information and also analyzing the data using spss and Amos software, an attempt has been made to explain the appropriate data and communication model. Descriptive results show that citizens have a feeling of relative deprivation at a high average level (18.24). Also, their level of dissatisfaction is estimated at a high level (181/32). The results of the correlation test show the significance of the relationship between the feeling of relative deprivation (0.39) and the level of dissatisfaction. The relationship between the feeling of relative deprivation and the formation and emergence of social discontent (civil and non-civil) has also been evaluated as significant (0.26).
